Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV)
A PHEV, or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, is another type of NEV. These vehicles combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor, primarily operating on electric power until the battery is depleted. When the battery runs low, the internal combustion engine seamlessly takes over to ensure continued driving. PHEVs can be charged externally via home chargers or public charging stations, making them an ideal option for long-distance travel and alleviating range anxiety. Even when the battery is exhausted, the engine ensures that the wheels keep turning.
BYD has developed a unique hybrid technology known as Super DM Technology, which powers our PHEVs. This innovative system offers numerous advantages, including enhanced driving performance and reduced fuel consumption. Look for the DM or DMi designation in BYD model names to recognise this groundbreaking hybrid technology.
